About Us

As Ray Queen approached retirement from Avondale Mill in Walhalla, South Carolina, he began planning for the next chapter of his career. Alongside his son, Howard, he
found the perfect opportunity when a friend decided to sell his septic tank service business. In December 1989, Ray purchased the company, which consisted of a single
truck and an established phone number. By January 1990, Ray and Howard had officially launched operations from Ray's home in Mountain Rest.

From the very beginning, Action Services of Oconee has been a true family business. Ray's wife, Sue, soon joined the company, bringing exceptional organizational skills and
a welcoming presence to the office.

 

After retiring from Avondale Mill, Ray devoted himself full-time to growing the business. Growing up in the close-knit Mountain Rest community shaped the Queen family's approach to business. They believed that serving their neighbors meant more than simply getting the job done—it meant treating every customer with honesty, fairness, and respect. Those principles became the foundation of the company and continue to guide us today. We believe in doing what is right, even when no one is watching, providing straightforward recommendations and dependable service without taking advantage of the trust our customers place in us.

As the company grew, so did our commitment to quality. In 1992, while attending an industry expo in Nashville, Tennessee, we expanded our services by purchasing 24 portable restrooms. Over the years, the company has continued to grow its rental offerings to include handwashing stations, holding tanks, handicap accessible portable restrooms, and luxury restroom trailers to better serve construction sites, special events, and residential customers.

 

Every service we provide reflects our belief that quality matters. From the first phone call to the final service in the field, we strive to deliver thorough, reliable work with
attention to detail. Whether we're pumping a septic tank, servicing portable restrooms, or setting up equipment for a major event, we want every customer to feel confident the
job was completed safely, professionally, and with care.

The next generation joined the family business in 2015 when Howard's daughter, Cassie, came on board after spending much of her childhood helping her grandmother in the office. Today, what began as a small family operation has grown into a dedicated team of 17 employees, including six full-time route drivers serving customers across three counties in Upstate South Carolina.

While our company has grown, our culture remains rooted in the same values that built it. We believe in treating our customers, coworkers, and community with respect, taking ownership of our responsibilities, communicating openly, and leading by example. Every member of our team understands that our reputation is earned through dependable service, personal accountability, and a willingness to go the extra mile.

For more than 36 years, Action Services of Oconee has proudly served Upstate South Carolina with septic tank and portable toilet service built on integrity, quality, and respect. As we look to the future, we remain committed to serving our community with the same family values that inspired Ray and Howard when they started this business in
1990, and we look forward to continuing that tradition for generations to come.
